This week begins Patient Experience Week, an annual celebration to honor staff who shape the patient experience daily. Thank you to all RWJBarnabas Health providers for all you do to compassionately, expertly and safely care for our patients and their families.
We have reaffirmed while tending to our communities during the worst public health crisis of our lifetimes that what our patients want is to be connected, informed and respected.
To deliver on this, providers today require an open, direct, two-way line of communication with patients. Unified technology and user-friendly tools can help them to do so. That is the goal of our Epic Together journey: to make patients and providers safer together on one unified platform across the RWJBH enterprise.
MyChart: Your Personal Health Record in your Pocket
As we transition to Epic, MyChart, Epic’s personal health record, will gradually become available to RWJBH patients. MyChart is used by more than 100 million patients to stay connected to their care; it is the gold standard in secure online health connection.
Available as a mobile app, MyChart puts patients’ personal health record in their pocket. MyChart makes it easier for patients to access their provider and engage in their care at any time, from wherever they are. In urgent or emergency situations, this can be more than an application – it can be a lifeline.
Once we are live on Epic, patients who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine can be automatically alerted through MyChart. From there, they can then easily schedule their vaccination directly through the application. The scheduling process can be completed in just a few quick steps, whether the patient is on a computer or mobile device. Patients can also use MyChart’s eCheck-In feature ahead of their vaccination appointment to save even more time.
Patients are safer when they have tools like MyChart on-hand in an unpredictable world. With Epic and MyChart, RWJBH providers will have the platform they need to consistently deliver an enhanced patient experience and ensure patients are connected, informed and respected at every step of the way.
