Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Clara Maass Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and the Wave 5 medical practices recently joined the growing list of RWJBarnabas Health facilities now live on Epic.
Rob Adamson, Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer, expressed his appreciation to the facilities, IT&S department, and all colleagues who helped ensure a successful Wave 5 Go-Live.
“I wanted to take a moment to reflect on our journey to arrive poised to transform our respective facilities and practices. Our Wave 5 activation marks a milestone for your facilities, medical practices, and our health system. Cerner will no longer be used at any RWJBarnabas Health facility or Medical Group practice. 92% of acute care facilities and 100% of the Combined Medical group are live on Epic. This important milestone helps to support our “one system, one family”. Your leadership has been exemplary, and I could not be prouder to be your colleague. Your facilities and office practices are ready for success thanks to each one of you. The countless hours of planning, coordination, logistics and change management will move from preparation for our new universal electronic health record to utilizing it to transform the care we deliver to our patients and communities. Through your leadership your teams were able to take care of our communities and patients while performing the arduous task of having your entire staff register and complete their Epic training. This is the largest activation wave of the Epic Together project and because of the shared responsibility of the Operational and IT&S Executive teams we are fully ready for this historic change.”
As of October 28, 2023, our health system’s Epic live sites composition is:
- 11 of 12 RWJBarnabas acute care hospitals
- Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, New Jersey’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Cancer Center
- 100% of the Combined Medical Group
We now have more than 30,000 colleagues delivering care utilizing Epic. This means, providers and all team members from across RWJBarnabas Health can now review a single, integrated patient record and provide unified care in a manner consistent with our Safety Together journey.
