Epic Downtime (BCA)

During Epic GoLive there is a possibility that some functionality may not be available. Downtime procedures were created in the event of such an event.

Check your Downtime Binder for detailed information.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 3 DOWNTIME SYSTEMS?

downtime-level-01

Downtime Level 1 – SRO (Read-Only) is a snap-shot of the RWJBH Epic system before the downtime started. Entering or retrieving new data is unavailable. Available on any clinical workstation or mobile workstation. Users may navigate through the application the same as in a normal state; however, discrete clinical information can’t be entered (use downtime paper forms for documentation as directed).

downtime-level-02

Downtime Level 2 – BCA Web is an internet application used to view downtime patient reports. Click the Epic BCA Web icon on a clinical workstation or mobile workstation; log-in with your Epic credentials. Reports are used to view clinical information for each patient; however, discrete clinical information can not be entered (use downtime paper forms for documentation as directed).

downtime-level-03

Downtime Level 3 – BCA PC uses an application called BCA Print which is used to view and print downtime patient reports which contain clinical information up to the point (or slightly before) the start of the downtime event. Reports are used to view clinical information for each patient; however, discrete clinical information can’t be entered (use downtime paper forms for documentation as directed).
